Hornswoggle

Hornswoggle Needs to Leave WWE

On May 26th 2006 Hornswoggle made his television debut on Smackdown , as a sidekick to Finlay. Since then, he has been Cruiserweight Champion, he has been ‘exposed’ as being Vince McMahon’s son, then when this claim was proved to be wrong, he was revealed to be Finlay's son.

Late last year, after years of being unable to talk, Santa supposedly granted Hornswoggle the ability to speak, and here is where we stand at present.

But is right for Hornswoggle to even be employed by the WWE? Years ago, he would have fit in, when WWE went through a phase of midget wrestling, however been the only small man on the roster really leaves him with nothing to do.

Sure, he has had feuds with wrestlers in the past – Chavo Guerrero and Jack Swagger being the most notable, but this does nothing for the other superstars, and only serves to embarrass them. This is no disrespect to Hornswoggle, but WWE are doing more harm than good by having him come out on top against much larger, and more talented, stars.

Hornswoggle does have appeal with kids, and in the PG era, that is WWE’s target market, and he has reasonable merchandise sales, but would he be missed if he was gone? Truth be told, no he wouldn’t. Even now, he doesn’t appear on tv for months at a time, and the product is better off for it.

As great as it is that WWE want to be seen as an Equal Opportunities Employer, this is not the way to go about it. You do not see other sports employing smaller people, just to fit in line with equal opportunities. Although Hornswoggle cannot help being the height he is, it does not stop the fact that he has no business in a wrestling ring.
