The Undertaker at WrestleMania

Ending Undertaker's WrestleMania Streak

Just like you can guarantee that politicians will make promises they cannot keep, every year you can guarantee that someone in the WWE steps up to challenge the Undertaker’s Wrestlemania streak, but will anyone actually end the streak?

It is well known backstage that the Undertaker is happy to lose his streak, as long as it is to an up and comer who might be the next big thing. He wants the loss of the streak to mean something and help catapult someone to main event status.

The streak itself started by accident, but after a few years it was decided that it was something WWE could build on, and so they have, and now it is almost the stuff of legend.

When Orton faced the Undertaker back in 2005, the original plan was for him to end the streak. Undertaker had agreed to this in principle, however due to backstage antics and his overall attitude at the time, Orton was punished, and the Undertaker kept his streak.

Rumour has it that this year Undertaker will face HHH, with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee. Although this is to be confirmed, you can almost guarantee that HHH will not win. Undertaker has explicitly said that he will only lose the streak to someone who is about to break through, and HHH has already been at the top.

There is also the possibility that after this year's Wrestlemania, the Undertaker will hang up his boots. He has many long standing injuries which is why he disappears from TV for months at a time, and WWE fans have not seen him in a wrestling ring since last years Wrestlemania – a further sign that his injuries are getting the better of him.

Even if the Undertaker could manage one further match at Wrestlemania 29, who would be able to challenge him? There are many superstars on the roster who could use a push and could be big if utilised correctly, and of course, with over a year until Wrestlemania 29, there is also the possibility of a wrestler who may be pushed, or built up into a position where he can challenge Undertaker.

The Undertaker's streak ending seems very improbable, but never say never in professional wrestling.
